EU Gender Directive
Most of the provisions will take effect 3 years after the 'entry into force' date which is the date the Directive is published in the Official Journal. This can be 2 - 3 weeks after the date of adoption (13 December).

Convention on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW)
The Women and Equality Unit completed production of the Government's 5th CEDAW report and presented it to the United Nations in August 2003. The WNC is currently finalising its shadow CEDAW report, which aims to pull together the views of NGOs in the UK. The UN CEDAW Committee has not yet fixed a date for examining the UK’s report, but we will advise of this once confirmation has been received.

Beijing + 10
2005 will mark the 10th anniversary of the Platform for Action. As such, the forty-ninth session of the Commission on the Status of Women will be reviewing its implementation. Find out more about Beijing +10.
